A homemade life...

Today, I stumbled upon a cute blog called A Lovely Morning  and saw this book! It's called A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg.

I have a love of cookbooks & reading and was tickled to see this.

I've had quite a busy summer, so blogging hasn't been a priority of mine.  The kids are enjoying their summer, Gavin-playing baseball in the yard & catching frogs in the evenings, Alex- head in computer & ipod (she's 12, need I say more??), and Abigail- playing with her barbies & helping me bake cookies.

I've been taking pictures, occasionally working as an RN, and just hanging out with my family (oh, and Im in this fabulous womens "living room" bible study, by Kelly Minter).

We are going to New York in about a week... excited to get out of Ohio for a while.  No beach for us, until October this year (Disney & beach vacation).

I hope everyone is having a great summer.  Fall will be here before we know it, so get out the bikini and get your fannies to the POOL!

Alex's Twilight Birthday Party!

This year, we hosted alex's birthday party at a hotel with a pool. It was, of course, a Twilight party.  Alex LOVES the Twilight series now. The girls had a blast.  I almost forgot to add alex's favorites for this year (thank you Amy for the idea).

Alex's top 10's this year (no particular order)

1. Ipod
2. Texting/cell phone
3. Twilight movies/books
4. Dance/Dancing
5. So you think you can dance Show
6. Her dork glasses
7. Silly Bands (she has around 230)
8. Collecting erasers
9. Collecting Stickers
10. Facebook

My kitchen remodel.

My kitchen is finally finished! (Well, except for the flooring).  It took us about 3 weeks to finish it and about $1500 total!  Its amazing what a can of paint can do! Not to bad.

Kitchen before...

Kitchen After
(sorry, I took these around sunset)...

The wall color is Restoration Hardware Latte.  The cabinet color is Behr Swiss Mocha.  I got the cabinet hardware at Target.

I got four of these (to put under my cabinets) at a flea market on Memorial Day weekend.

I need to order my stools yet.

I think it turned out GREAT!  I love my kitchen again. :) There are still a few little things I want to do, but it looks 100% better than before. I will post flooring pictures when we complete that (hopefully soon).

Alex's birthday celebration...

We went to a cookout & fireworks show at a friends house for Alex's 12th birthday.  The kids got to swim & light fireworks.  It was an enjoyable evening.  Abigail was afraid of the fireworks though, but she LOVED the great dane!

I just love gavin in goggles.  Doesn't he look adorable? He looks like Simon Birch.

It was Alex & Danette's birthday celebration

Shhhh, dont tell! LOTS of fireworks!

She LOVES animals, and the doggy was her friend for the evening.

Abigail was terrified of the sparklers

Gavin was lighting a smoke bomb.
